Woolacombe & Mortehoe

You are here:
“The best of both worlds … and out of this world!”

For the perfect holiday by the sea

Nestled on the North Devon coast, the twin villages of Woolacombe and Mortehoe are a perfect combination for a holiday by the sea, offering something for every generation.

Enjoy the south-west-facing golden sands on one of the best beaches in the UK at Woolacombe, where, if you are feeling energetic, you can partake in a variety of water sports, or for those who prefer to enjoy their holiday at a more leisurely pace, there is ample room on this 3-mile, award-winning beach for building sandcastles, or laying down your beach blanket for a spot of sunbathing.

Stroll along the Esplanade to reach the pretty little coves of Barricane and Combesgate. These hidden gems are perfect for exploring the rock pools, discovering shells and sea glass and splashing about in the waves.

A choice of eateries, independent shops, and galleries in the village of Woolacombe offer everything you need and more for a relaxing break on the coast. Properties of Edwardian elegance, combined with Victorian villas and the ultra-modern, offer holiday accommodation overlooking the bay, or for those looking for more from their holiday, there are plenty of Holiday Parks and Hotels within walking distance of the beach.

By contrast, Mortehoe is a picturesque and charming village tucked away on the clifftop, adjacent to Woolacombe. Stay in a characterful cottage, or on one of the local campsites, and explore the myriad of coastal footpaths on your doorstep. Keep your eyes peeled for Atlantic grey seals whilst walking on the dramatic cliffs of Morte Point, before heading back to the village for a well-earned cream tea, or pasty and a pint. Visit the Mortehoe Museum to discover the rich history of the local area. With the National Trust owning much of the land here, it retains its natural beauty for all to enjoy.

With breathtaking views and vistas, sunsets to rival the Northern Lights, and a friendly atmosphere, whatever you are seeking in a coastal retreat.
